Firefighters get new gear thanks to community donations

Templeton Fire Dept

On April 23, Templeton Fire and Emergency Services had wildland hoses, nozzles and other equipment stolen during an outdoor training exercise. Firefighters left their equipment in a field near Vineyard Elementary School when they received a 911 call for a multiple vehicle accident near Vineyard Drive and Highway 101. When they returned 45 minutes later from the call the equipment was gone. The equipment was gone and reported stolen to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department.

The media coverage received about the theft of the equipment triggered the community into action and the Department received donations to help offset the cost associated with replacing equipment from residents and local business owners.

While the equipment was eventually returned, the donations received enabled the department to invest in new equipment.

The department recently purchased new wildland firefighting hoses, nozzles and related equipment. The department is extremely grateful for the community support.

The Templeton Fire and Emergency Services Department is still accepting donations for unfunded departmental needs. Donations are tax deductible. Anyone interested in making a donation my contact Chief Bill White at [email protected].
