Fire teams to conduct training at Camp Roberts later this month
Smoke will be visible near Highway 101 during training
– The San Luis Obispo County Fire Service Training Officers Association, in collaboration with the XSL Incident Management Team and local agency partners, will conduct a full-scale Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Drill on May 27 at Camp Roberts. The drill, running from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., aims to enhance operational readiness and strengthen interagency coordination ahead of the 2025 fire season.
The advanced live-fire training will simulate realistic wildland fire conditions and will feature four tactical skill stations: Structure Defense, Firing Operations, Mobile Attack with Water Drafting, and Aerial Ignition Platform Orientation.
This drill is intended for trained personnel and provides an advanced opportunity to reinforce and sharpen tactical response skills in a dynamic, live-fire setting.
Smoke from the drill will be visible from surrounding areas, including Highway 101. Drivers are urged to use caution on roadways.
