Fire damages structures in Atascadero, no injuries reported

Crews extinguish Atascadero fire at Catalpa and Maple Streets

– A detached residential garage fire occurred Saturday morning at 9177 Maple St. The fire, reported by multiple neighbors at 9:27 a.m., was extinguished within 60 minutes by crews from multiple agencies, according to a press release sent by Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services.

Fire engines from Atascadero, Paso Robles, Templeton, the State Hospital, and Cal Fire responded, along with one battalion chief from Atascadero and another from Cal Fire. A total of 20 personnel were deployed to the scene.

According to officials, the first engine to arrive encountered heavy fire coming from the interior and rear of the structure. Firefighters reported difficulty accessing the fire due to fences and debris on the property.

The fire originated inside the garage, but the cause remains under investigation. No injuries to emergency personnel or civilians were reported.
