Fire damages outbuildings, travel trailer
Firefighters contain blaze in about 20 minutes; cause under investigation
– Firefighters responded to a structure fire on March 9 at 7135 and 7145 Sycamore Road in Atascadero involving outbuildings and a travel trailer, according to a press release from the Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services Department.
Fire crews were dispatched at 6:40 p.m. and arrived to find two outbuildings, a fence, and a travel trailer involved in heavy fire. The fire also threatened a nearby shop building of approximately 1,500 square feet that had begun to become involved.
Several cylinders and cans created small explosions during firefighting operations, which increased the volume and intensity of the fire and required crews to conduct a defensive fire attack.

Firefighters knocked down the fire in approximately 20 minutes from the time of dispatch. Crews conducted extensive overhaul operations, and units remained at the scene for about three hours.
A total of six engines, three command vehicles, and two investigators responded to the incident. Twenty personnel were involved in the response.
No injuries to emergency personnel or civilians were reported.
The area of origin and the cause of the fire remain under investigation.
