Fifth annual Atascadero charity cornhole tournament coming in September
Tournament will benefit local charities
–The Kiwanis Club of Atascadero and the Knights of Columbus Santa Lucia Council # 3648 are running the fifth annual Atascadero Showdown charity cornhole tournament on Friday, Sept. 17 and Saturday, Sept. 18. Proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast and Boy Scout Troop 51.
The first day will be a double-elimination tournament at the Ravine Waterpark located at 2301 Airport Road in Paso Robles. There is an entry fee of $60 for a two person team and there is a 40 team maximum. Teams will check-in at 11 a.m., then play in an 8 team round robin toss from 12-2 p.m. There will be a break from 2-3 p.m., then A & B bracket finals from 3-5 p.m. No outside alcohol is allowed during this day.
The second day will take place in the Sunken Gardens with a reduced early bird entry fee of $80 for a two person team, but after Aug. 17 the entry fee will raise to $100. There is a 128 team maximum, so early sign-up is extra encouraged by the organizers. Teams will check-in at 8 a.m., then play in an 8 team round robin toss from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be a break from 12-1:30 p.m., then A & B bracket finals at 1:30-5:30 p.m.
A total of $3,000 worth of cash prizes will be distributed to winners on both days. Teams must place first to fifth on day one or first to eighth on day two to qualify for cash prizes. There are also trophies for winners that place first to third on either day.
