Excessive heat watch begins soon in San Luis Obispo County
National Weather Service announcement
The National Weather Service this week announced an urgent weather message that an excessive heat watch will be in effect from this Friday from 10 a.m. until next Monday at 9 p.m.
There will be dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 108 possible.
The San Luis Obispo County Interior Valleys, Cuyama Valley and San Luis Obispo County Mountains will all be affected.
The National Weather Service warns that extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
Precautionary tips
Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this situation. Be prepared to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
