Events scheduled at the Atascadero Library this August 

The Atascadero Library is located at 6555 Capistrano Ave in Atascadero.

Children’s programs

Preschool storytimes
Preschool storytimes are scheduled on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 10:30. They will share stories and songs.

Toddler storytimes
Join us for a storytime specifically designed for your toddler every Friday morning at 10:30. We will share stories, rhymes, music and finger plays.

Craft club
Come make a fun project! Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 3:30 Registration required. Please call or register online. Ages 6 to 12.

Paddock puppet players
Join us as we welcome the Paddock Puppet Players for some animal themed puppet fun! Thursday, Aug. 3 at 10:30 All ages.

Family movie
Saturday, Aug. 5 at 2. See library website for details. All ages.

Lego club
Saturday, Aug. 12 at 2 for some Lego building fun! Registration required. Please call or register online. Ages 5-12.

Adult programs

Book discussion groups
The two library book groups are Gems in the Stacks which meets the 1st Tuesday (Aug. 1) of the month at 11:00 and Mixed Minds Book Group which meets the 3rd Thursday (Aug. 17) of the month at 2:30. Gems in the Stacks will discuss Our Souls at Night by Kent Haruf. Mixed Minds Book Group will discuss The Life We Bury by Allen Eskens.

Howard Hughes and the Spruce Goose
Join former test pilot and author George Marrett as he presents the incredible life of Howard Hughes and his inspiration behind the 700 passenger airplane the Spruce Goose. Thursday, Aug. 10 at 6.

Eclipse programs

Pre-solar eclipse presentation
Join Central Coast Astronomical Society President Joseph Carro for a PowerPoint presentation on the tools and facilities used to study the sun and be prepared for the upcoming eclipse. Get your free glasses for eclipse viewing. Thursday, Aug. 3 at 6

Solar eclipse day
Watch the partial eclipse in the library parking lot with Central Coast Astronomical Society President Joseph Carro with a presentation afterward in the Library Community Room. Monday, Aug. 21 at 10:30

History of the City Administration Building
Join Len Johnson of the Atascadero Historical Society as he presents the history of the City Administration Building. Friday, Aug. 18 at 10:30

The art of Laure Carlisle & Kate Moldauer
The artwork of Laure Carlisle & Kate Moldauer will be featured in August & Sept. An art reception will be held on on Thursday, Aug. 3 at 5:30

Alice Creasy Rew Bookstore
The Alice Creasy Rew Bookstore is located by the lobby of the Atascadero Library. This is the place to find great used books for sale at fabulous bargain prices.
