ECHO is a homeless shelter serving the communities in northern San Luis Obispo County. The 50-bed transitional shelter helps families and individuals find permanent housing within three months of entering their program. In addition to providing case management services to the homeless, they assist clients with creating an action plan, live with new behaviors, find a job, and locate a permanent home. Moreover, ECHO serves up to 80 dinners each evening for anyone who is hungry thanks to their network of dedicated volunteers.

Pictured in front of ECHO (L-R) are: Mike Bryne (Founding ECHO Board Member), ECHO Executive Director Aurora Williams, Dan Harris of Waste Management Inc./Atascadero Waste Alternatives, Mike Hoover of Chicago Landfill, 5th District Supervisor Debbie Arnold, Eric Gobler (Founding ECHO Board Member), and Liz Gomez of Waste Management.

ECHO will be celebrating their 15th Anniversary with a Celebration Dinner on May 9th at the Atascadero Lake Pavilion at 5:30 pm. Please call 805-462-3663 for more information.

The Atascadero Historical Society’s purpose is to:

1) preserve the memory of the unique history of the Atascadero Colony, as well as the story of the community of Atascadero and its environs

2) operate a museum

3) communicate the lessons of history in order that the present and future may learn from the past

ECHO2While the Historical Society continues to operate a museum, they are currently fundraising to make the vision of the Atascadero Colony Heritage Center become a reality. They will be holding a fundraiser on June 3rd at the beautiful Cass Winery in Paso Robles.
