Earn gift cards while supporting Atascadero’s local businesses
Shoppers can receive a $20 gift card for every $100 spent at qualifying businesses
– The Atascadero Chamber of Commerce is bringing back the Shop Local Bonus Program this holiday season, encouraging residents to support local businesses while earning rewards. Starting Nov. 30, shoppers can receive a $20 gift card for every $100 spent at qualifying businesses in Atascadero.
To participate, shoppers must spend $100 at participating businesses, excluding grocery stores, hardware stores, fast food restaurants, pet food stores, big box stores, and gas stations. Purchases must be made between Nov. 29 and Dec. 31, 2024. Receipts must be itemized, include the date, business name, and total amount spent, and meet the $100 minimum. Taxes, delivery fees, and shipping costs are not eligible.
“Shopping local is the gift that keeps on giving. Every purchase you make supports the families behind Atascadero’s businesses and their hardworking employees,” said Josh Cross, president and CEO of the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce. “Those dollars stay in our community, circulating to other local shops and restaurants, creating a powerful cycle of support strengthening our town. This holiday season, your choices make a real difference!”
Research by the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies shows the positive economic impact of shopping locally. “For every $100 spent in your local community, $68 stays in your community. When spending the same at a non-local business like a national chain, only $43 stays in your community,” according to the organization.
Julie Matthews, vice president of membership, added, “Supporting local businesses isn’t just making a purchase; it’s investing in the very heartbeat of our community.”
Shoppers are encouraged to submit receipts quickly, as the program ends on Dec. 31. A maximum of two $20 gift cards may be earned per household.
