Diablo Canyon Decommissioning Engagement Panel to host public workshop Oct. 17
–On Thursday, Oct. 17, the Diablo Canyon Decommissioning Engagement Panel will host a public workshop to discuss and gather public input on the economic opportunities and impacts relating to the Diablo Canyon Power Plant closure. The input and suggestions offered during the workshop will be available to PG&E, local governments, state agencies and community organizations who play a role in economic growth on the Central Coast.
“It is our hope that the workshop will act as a catalyst to move forward with strategies and opportunities to address the loss of jobs and income resulting from the closure of the Diablo Canyon Power Plant. It’s important that these efforts are coordinated and that they begin immediately,” said workshop co-chairs Nancy O’Malley and Lauren Brown.
The workshop will provide the opportunity for the public to hear from PG&E, San Luis Obispo County, the Hourglass Project, and other communities who have experienced similar economic losses. The workshop will conclude with a panel of community leaders who will offer their perspectives and suggestions. Members of the general public will also have the opportunity to offer comments and also submit questions for workshop participants throughout the program.
The meeting will be held from 1:30-6 p.m. at the San Luis Obispo County Government Center, located at 1055 Monterey Street in San Luis Obispo.
The Diablo Canyon Engagement Panel will conduct a follow-up public meeting on Nov. 13, 2019 from 6 – 9:30 p.m. to discuss the conclusions and recommendations from the workshop and receive additional public comment.
