‘Destination Wedding’ movie set in North County
Coming soon as a limited release to movie theaters Aug. 24
—According to local reports, the film “Destination Wedding” has released a new trailer, which shows in an opening scene, filmed at the SLO International Airport, Keanu Reeves asking Winona Ryder “What brings you to Paso Robles?” Ryder replies, “I’m going to a destination wedding.” Everyone loves a winery wedding movie, and putting Paso Robles back in the spotlight for a feature film like this is very exciting for our community.
Last year the Central Coast was delighted to find out that well known Hollywood actors had been spotted in several filming locations in San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles. The fans took to the internet and shared pictures and filming news through Facebook and Instagram social media sites. Locals wanted to know more about the mysterious film. Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder were scheduled to shoot in San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles on July 31 and Aug. 7 – 9.
The new trailer was recently released on May 16, and the movie’s perfectly planned destination wedding to the Central Coast includes wine, of course, and the golden rolling hills- the perfect setting for a delightful cliché country shabby chic wedding. Keanu’s gruff voice and Winona’s timing create tension and comedy in this romantic storyline, which looks like it has all the makings of a good flick.
The R-Rated film is a dramedy romance which stars the story of two misanthrope and spiteful wedding guests, Frank and Lindsay, who realize a common fondness for each other, regardless of their quirks. Directed by Victor Levin, “Destination Wedding” is set on our beautiful Paso Robles background, and features the iconic and well-balanced pair- who bitterly and comedically banter and experience all the strange fun of a wedding in our scenic wine country.
Dubost Winery creates in the idyllic wedding location and was undisclosed during the filming. The trailer reveals the couple enjoying the Winery’s bar, outside under the lights. Several scenes include members of the winery’s crew as well.
Curt Dubost, the winery’s co-founder, recently shared on their public Facebook page for the winery, “My son Ted Dubost plays Keith the groom and I play the father of the bride. No speaking parts but still a very cool experience and all the people involved are wonderfully talented quality folks. Elizabeth Dell the co-producer is like a daughter to us. Vic the writer-director is an absolute treasure. Keanu Reeves is one of the best human beings I’ve ever met. Winona and Kate really hit it off too. Watch for a special local showing, hopefully at the winery. Many friends and wine club members were also in the movie.”
According to IMDb.com, “Destination Wedding” will get a limited release Aug. 24.
