Event will include light breakfast and refreshments for cyclists

– The City of Atascadero announced Tuesday that it will host “Pedal to the Gardens” as part of Bike to Work Week celebrations, set to take place at Historic City Hall on May 14 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The free community event, aimed at participants of all ages, is in recognition of Bike to Work Week and National Bike Month in May. It will be held on the steps of Atascadero City Hall, opposite Sunken Gardens, and will include a light breakfast and refreshments to honor community members who cycle to work.

Atascadero boasts an active multi-modal commuter community, and with many employees returning to work, the event offers an opportunity to experience commuting on two wheels. Attendees will also receive information about the upcoming El Camino Real Downtown Infrastructure Enhancement Project, featuring new multi-modal features to enhance pedestrian, bicyclist, and transit access, along with Bike Safety tips.

The city is collaborating with the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments as part of several community events scheduled throughout the county in May.

Wild Fields Brewhouse will offer a bite and a pint of craft beer to bike riders on May 14, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at 6907 El Camino Real. For further information about Bike Month and other local events, visit www.rideshare.org/program/bike-month/.
