Cuesta College opens fall semester with new student programs

Fall schedule includes hundreds of classes and short-term options
– Cuesta College opened its fall semester Aug. 11, offering hundreds of classes, new academic programs and expanded student services through Dec. 12.
Students can browse the Class Finder at cuesta.edu. Late registration is available through Aug. 24 with instructor approval. Short-term classes ranging from three to 17 weeks are also available. Credit courses are $46 per unit, and noncredit courses are free. Recent local high school graduates may attend two years tuition-free through the Cuesta College Promise Scholarship.
“Each fall, our campuses come alive with hope, ambition, and the boundless possibilities our students carry with them,” Superintendent/President Jill Stearns said. “At Cuesta College, we believe that education changes lives, and this semester we’re committed to walking beside every student, encouraging them to dream big, work hard, and discover their extraordinary potential.”
Cougar FAST Way Program
This semester marks the launch of the Cougar FAST (Focus, Accelerate, Succeed, Transfer) Way Program, which is designed to help first-semester students build academic momentum and a sense of belonging. Students in the program take two general education classes at a time in structured eight-week blocks. The program uses hybrid learning, peer mentorship and dedicated faculty support to combine equity-minded teaching with timely intervention and transfer-focused planning.
“The FAST Way Program is about creating a clear, supported pathway to success built on community, connection, and a shared commitment to student achievement,” Dean of Instruction Aubrey Kuan-Roderick said.
Food trucks
Food trucks will be on the San Luis Obispo campus, 3100 Courtyard, Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The schedule is SLO Dog on Mondays, Leslie’s Taqueria on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Grapevine Catering on Wednesdays.
Student success and support programs
Students can access academic counseling, financial aid, tutoring and other services in person and online through Cuesta Connect. The Cuesta Connect link is available on the webpages of all Student Success and Support Programs departments, including academic counseling, admissions and registration, academic support and tutoring, the Affinity Center, the Basic Needs Center and Food Pantry, CalWORKS, the Career and Transfer Center, Disability Support Programs and Services, EOPS/CARE, financial aid, the Foster Youth Program, the International Student Program, Library and Learning Resources, Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement (MESA), the Monarch Dream Center, Rising Scholars, Student Conduct and Support Resolution, Student Health Services, Student Life and Leadership, Student Technology Support and the Veterans Resource Center.
Class locations
Cuesta College offers classes at its San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles campuses, at the South County Center at Arroyo Grande High School, and online. Early college opportunities are available for local high school students through the College and Career Access Pathways Program.
