Criminal threats cause Coast Union High School to go on lockdown

–On Friday, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a threat that had been posted on social media against Coast Union High School in Cambria. The threat was general in nature and was not specifically directed at any particular student or faculty member.

Deputies responded and the school was placed on lockdown at approximately 9:30 a.m. A 15-year-old female student was quickly identified as the suspect. That student was not in attendance at the school today. Deputies contacted the suspect at her home, questioned her, and then took her into custody for making criminal threats. She was transported to County Juvenile Hall. Since the suspect is a juvenile, her name is not being released.

The lockdown was lifted approximately 25 minutes later at 9:55 a.m. Deputies believe there is no longer a threat to the school at this time.
