County libraries to open May 4 for grab-and-go services
Doors will open for browsing, holds pickup, and express computers
–Beginning Tuesday, May 4, the County of San Luis Obispo Public Libraries will offer grab-and-go service at six locations, including the Atascadero Library.
Grab and go service allows patrons to enter the building for browsing, holds pickup, and use the library’s computers. Per state and county health guidelines, face coverings will be required, and patrons will be asked to limit visits to 30 minutes.
“Many of our staff have returned from county COVID-19 assignments so we are now able to offer more than the front door service we’ve had since January,” said Erica Thatcher, Engagement and Marketing Coordinator for the Library. “We look forward to having our doors open again and to welcoming everyone back inside.”
The library reduced its services and closed some branches in January as most of its staff were deployed as disaster service workers to support the health department’s COVID-19 testing sites, call centers, and contact tracing teams.
For now, grab-and-go service will be available at the Arroyo Grande, Atascadero, Los Osos, Morro Bay, Nipomo, and San Luis Obispo libraries Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Library expects to open more branches and to fine-tune business hours when more staff returns from county assignments.
