County airport preparing for 20% increase in passenger traffic
Officials are urging travelers to plan ahead, follow key guidelines to ensure a smooth travel experience
– The San Luis Obispo County Airport is preparing for an anticipated 20% increase in passenger traffic during the holiday travel season. Officials are urging travelers to plan ahead and follow key guidelines to ensure a smooth travel experience.
For those driving to the airport, officials recommend considering transportation alternatives, such as rideshare services or arranging for drop-offs, as parking spaces are expected to fill quickly during peak times.
The airport advises passengers to arrive at least two hours before their scheduled departure time to allow sufficient time for check-in, security screening, and navigating the terminal.
Travelers are also reminded to prepare for the security process by adhering to the 3-1-1 rule for liquids and gels. Passengers are allowed three ounces of liquid in a 1-quart bag, with one bag per person. Preparing these items in advance can help prevent delays at security checkpoints.
Health and safety measures remain a priority, with hand sanitizer stations available throughout the terminal, both before and after security. Outdoor seating areas are also available for passengers to enjoy snacks and seating.
“During this busy holiday travel season, we continuously strive to provide a seamless and enjoyable travel experience for all passengers,” said Courtney Johnson, director of airports. “We encourage travelers to heed our recommendations for early arrival and understand the security process prior to arriving at the airport. Travel doesn’t have to be stressful.”
