County airport approves Lyft taxi service

SLO-airport

—The San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport recently announced it will now permit Lyft drivers to pick up and drop off at the airport. It is the second ride share company to operate at SBP.

“We are pleased to provide an additional ground transportation option for our passengers,” said Kevin Bumen, director of airports. “We look forward to adding Lyft to the current roster of TNCs, taxis, limos and shuttle bus services.”

Transportation network company Uber began service at the airport last year. Like Uber, Lyft drivers will pick up and drop off riders at the white curbs in front of the terminal, and operate from off-airport locations at all other times.

The airport recently began nonstop service to Seattle on Alaska Airlines began April 13, and nonstop service to Denver on United Airlines begins June 8.

San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SBP) serves areas as far north as Southern Monterey County and as far south as Northern Santa Barbara County. The airport offers convenient access to and from the Central Coast. Beginning in 2017, residents and visitors will have the choice of three commercial airlines with flights to Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle and Denver. The airport is also home to full-service general aviation and corporate facilities. For more information, or to book a flight, visit www.sloairport.com.
