County supervisor election is set to take place on March 5, 2024
– This week, Susan Funk, candidate for District 5 County Supervisor, announced the endorsement of the Southwest Mountain States Regional Council of Carpenters (SMSRCC).
The SMSRCC, which represents more than 90,000 members in Southern California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Oregon and Alaska, has chosen to support Funk’s campaign, “due to her unparalleled commitment to working families, economic development, and affordable housing.”
In expressing their support for Funk’s candidacy, Manley McNinch, vice president of Carpenters Local 805 and a political deputy for the council said, “We expect that by working together we can create a better quality of life for all members of our community, including women, veterans, youth, and disadvantaged residents. We stand proudly with Susan Funk in building better community wealth.”
In accepting the endorsement, she said, “I’m grateful to have the support of the SMSRCC. I will continue to advocate strongly for the next generation of families by working hard to bring more affordable housing as well as good paying jobs to San Luis Obispo County, so that our children can have a future here, too.”
The county supervisor election is set to take place on March 5, 2024. The District 5 seat on the board of supervisors includes the City of Atascadero, part of the City of San Luis Obispo, and the unincorporated communities stretching to the county’s eastern border.
