Community turns out for classic car cruise, ‘American Graffiti’ showing
Showing was part of effort to offer more special events, according to theater staff
–American Graffiti returned to the Galaxy Theater in Atascadero for a special engagement. The movie attracted a car club with 50s cars. Some of the Galaxy staff dressed in 50s garb to enhance the experience. Mia Herndon sold popcorn and soft drinks in a red polka dot dress, which evoked memories of American Graffiti-era fashion.
“It went pretty well,” Shelby Owings said, “A car club had a private showing, and a few open showings sold out. We’re trying to do more special events, and get our staff dressing up.”
The Galaxy plans to do more special events to encourage people to return to the theater now that they’re open again in Atascadero.
