Colony family fun day happening Saturday

–Jim Wilkins of the Atascadero Historical Society and volunteers are preparing for Saturday’s “Colony Family Fun Day” at the Colony Heritage Center. Monday, several volunteers cleaned up the area around two colony homes which were previously relocated near the Atascadero Library. Wilkins says the first ever Colony Family Fun Day will help people see what Atascadero Historical Society volunteers are creating.

The event will be from 11-3 Saturday, April 27. Wilkins says, “We’ll give guided tours through the two structures we have here. We’ll have some old-fashioned games for kids: four square, tetherball and some other games from the 1920s.” A pizza lunch will be available for $6.

Wilkins says volunteers work every Saturday morning from 8:30 to 12:30 at the Colony Heritage Center. He says, “We’ve got two more historic structures to move into the area. Ultimately, the 1920’s neighborhood will be open to the public as a living museum.”
