City seeking developers for Centennial Plaza lots
– The City of Atascadero has announced a request for qualifications for the Centennial Plaza Lots situated at 5901 East Mall. The lots offer a unique opportunity for prospective developers to explore business ventures in a prominent location within downtown Atascadero, catering to restaurants, retail, entertainment, and providing space for potential office and residential endeavors on upper floors. The surplus land, positioned in close proximity to Atascadero Creek and city hall, awaits qualified developers’ submissions for purchase and development.
The lots, unoccupied parcels nestled in the core of the downtown commercial zone on East Mall, are directly adjacent to the historic city hall. These lots flank Centennial Plaza, located a short distance from Atascadero Creek and adjacent to the Sunken Gardens, a hub for numerous year-round events. The lots extend between a city-owned public parking lot, East Mall Avenue, and a pathway paralleling Atascadero Creek. The first lot, positioned northeast of Centennial Plaza, measures 75 feet wide and 100 feet deep. The second lot, situated on the southwest side of Centennial Plaza, is 25 feet wide and 100 feet deep. While neighboring properties are privately owned, developers may explore the option of including them in the project.
The city invites interested parties to submit their qualifications and expressions of interest. Successful applicants will subsequently be invited to present a comprehensive, conceptual development proposal. The city is prepared to assist in financing the realization of these development plans.
