City of Atascadero hosting ‘self-help’ ballot measure open house
‘Self-help’ counties deliver voter approved sales tax measures that fund public transportation
–Residents of Atascadero are invited to an open house to be held on May 21, from 12-3 p.m. to learn about the region’s efforts to become a “Self-Help County.”
Self-Help Counties deliver voter-approved (by super-majority) transportation sales tax measures that fund transit, highway, freight, bicycle, pedestrian and other mobility programs.
The meeting will be held at Atascadero City Hall – Lewis Avenue Entrance, which is located at 6500 Palma Avenue, in Atascadero.
If voters approve the self-help ballot measure in November 2016, the City of Atascadero would receive approximately $12,165,031 over the course of the 9-year measure for local transportation projects and programs.
Additionally, the proposed Transportation Investment Plan funds regional projects relevant to residents of Atascadero in the following categories:
- Regional highway projects
- Bike & pedestrian safety and connectivity
- Public transportation, which includes senior, veterans and disabled transportation.
Residents are encouraged to come and learn more about the ballot measure and the city’s priorities for this funding. To learn more about self help efforts in SLO County, visit www.selfhelpslo.org.
