City of Atascadero hosting corn toss tournament

Proceeds will benefit Parents For Joy all-inclusive playground project corn-toss

–The Knights of Columbus will present their first ever Showdown Corn Toss Tournament & Fun Day, a one day, 128-team corntoss tournament for all ages, on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. in the Atascadero Sunken Gardens. Proceeds from this event benefit the Parents for Joy non-profit group to raise funds for the construction of the Joy Playground in Atascadero, an all-inclusive playground for special needs children.

The tournament will allow up to 128 adult doubles-only teams and up to 64 children’s doubles-only teams. Up to $5,000 total in cash prizes will be awarded to 1st through 12th place adult teams, giving everyone a good chance to win. Plus there will be a $100 Prize for the Best Team Costume. Cash prizes apply to adult teams only (ages 12 & over) and trophies will be given. Medals will be awarded to the children’s teams (Under 12).

Early Bird pricing is available only until Oct. 14, with adult teams priced at $80 per pair ($40 per person); children’s teams are $20 per pair ($10 per person).

The tournament will also include a fun-filled day of activities for all ages -from water balloon tosses to bounce houses and photo booths. There will be a great line up of food trucks, craft breweries and a DJ for some terrific music as the competition heats up.

Early Bird registration is now open online here. In-person registrations are also being taken at the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce office located at 6904 El Camino Real. For more information about the event please contact the Colony Park Community Center at (805) 470-3360.

The Knights of Columbus will be providing the bags of corn and the boards, so all players need to do is register.

Everyone can come out, support their teams and join in the fun; the event itself is free to attend. Food, drink and activities are available for purchase and remember to check out all of the local merchants in the downtown.
