City announces summer lineup of camps, activities, classes

Variety of programs offered for all ages
– The City of Atascadero’s Recreation Division will kick off summer for the community by offering summer programs for all ages. For younger kids, there will be some exciting camps, including Lego engineering, artist workshops, robotics, soccer, basketball, dance, iCode, iGame, animation, and more.
For the older youth, they will have henna body art, arts and crafts, robotics, computer animation, teen summer club, graphic design, volleyball, robotics, and drivers’ education. There are also many all-ages classes including roller skating, yoga, dog obedience, professional development, line dancing, and many other great classes that are ongoing and you can join any time. There is also a summer youth basketball league open to youth going into Kindergarten through 8th grades.
This summer the Teen Summer Club is happening weekly from noon to 5 p.m. and will offer themed activities each day including cooking, sports tournaments, crafts, water balloon fun, movies, free food, video games, and more.
There is also a new kickball league and adult drop-in volleyball night. Get your Kickball team together Wednesday evenings at Paloma Creek Park this summer for fun, laughter, and exercise. The league is open to 16+ year olds and teams must pre-register by June 30. They also will have drop-in volleyball on Friday nights from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Colony Park Community Center. For $2 per person, you can drop in and hit the ball around or join a pick-up game. No pre-registration is required.
The Atascadero Recreation Division is located at the Colony Park Community Center, 5599 Traffic Way, and the registration desk is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Online registration is available 24-7.
