Charity calendar highlights ‘Pets and Their People’ around Atascadero Lake

Proceeds benefit Friends of Atascadero Lake organization

– The nonprofit Friends of Atascadero Lake has announced a new fundraising initiative aimed at bolstering support for Atascadero Lake Park. The project entails the sale of a calendar, ‘Pets and Their People’ created by community member Janet Murrieta. All proceeds generated beyond the printing expenses will be channeled back to support the Friends of Atascadero Lake organization.

The calendar is available by contacting [email protected]. The organization welcomes donations for calendar purchases.

The project promises to resonate with the community of dog walkers who frequent Atascadero Lake Park. Dogs of all breeds, shapes, and sizes are a ubiquitous presence around the lake throughout the day and into the evening.

Murrieta’s statement:

Not long after I moved to Atascadero from San Luis Obispo in 2007, a friend took me to the Atascadero Lake Park for the first time. I was so impressed by the peaceful surroundings, wildlife, and scenery, I made visiting the park part of my regular routine. Since that first encounter, I have attended many annual functions at the lake such as Concerts in the Park, the Wine Festival, and several public outreach events, including volunteering at the Zoo, just to name a few. I especially enjoy biking, running, and walking my beautiful Golden Retriever Rusty around the lake.

Over the last 16 years, I have built wonderful relationships with those who frequent the park as much as I do, and we all agree that we have a real sense of community here. I would like to thank Nancy, her team, and amazing volunteers for the fundraising they do and for fostering the sense of community we all feel, it is obvious they take a lot of pride in maintaining the lake and its surroundings, and for those efforts we are grateful.

I would like to thank all of the calendar participants for allowing this nature and landscape photographer to push herself out of her comfort zone, your patience and kind words throughout this process have touched my heart.

Presenting “Pets and their People” a charitable calendar to support the non-profit Friends of Atascadero Lake.

I would like to thank each participant, 2 and 4-legged alike, for their patience and support, without them this calendar would not have come to fruition.

This calendar is dedicated to our wonderful dog walker extraordinaire and cherished friend Anne. Thank you for taking care of and loving our pets as much as we do, we love you Anne. Also pictured are Rusty and Olive.
