Charges filed in South County stabbing incident

Andrew Frederick Rodriguez.

San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow announced today the filing of murder charges against Andrew Frederick Rodriguez. The criminal complaint alleges that Rodriguez, 34, is responsible for the stabbing death of Jonathan Campbell Perez, 39, which occurred on Sept. 11 in Pismo Beach.

After law enforcement collected sufficient evidence and reviewed it, Rodriguez, born Nov. 22, 1989, was charged with murder. He is scheduled for arraignment on the murder charge this afternoon, Sept. 17, in Department 3 of the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court.

Criminal charges are merely allegations of criminal conduct. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Kimberly Dittrich and investigated by the Pismo Beach Police Department and the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation.
