–Most of us find it hard to believe that it’s February already! In January we celebrated our Champions in the community at our Annual Dinner. In case you missed it, we honored Erin McDaniel as our Ambassador of the Year, Z Villages as Business of the Year, Parents for Joy as our Organization of the Year, Colony Market as the Entrepreneur of the year, Don Idler was named the Chamber’s Lifetime Member and Terrie Banish was our 2019 Citizen of the Year for Atascadero. We want to recognize again the contributions of these individuals and thank them for making Atascadero a great place to work and live!

The Atascadero Chamber kicks off our 2020 Art, Wine and Brew tours during the Downtown Business’ First Fridays on Feb. 7. Enjoy great wine, beer, cider and other treats at participating downtown businesses from 5:30 – 8 p.m. Get your tickets for $20 in advance by heading over to our events calendar.

Our Talk on the Block series will take place three times in February. What is “Talk on the Block”? It is an opportunity for residents to convene with city council members and City Staff in a casual setting in their own neighborhood. City Staff starts each meeting with a presentation on statistics and information on the workings of the city. Afterward, Atascadero residents are given the opportunity to ask questions and express their concerns. Talk on the Block is happening from 6 – 7 p.m. on February 12th at the ABC Church, February 24th at the United Methodist Church and February 27th at Atascadero Community Church.

Would you like to be involved with the chamber and your business community? We have 4 active councils at the chamber who would welcome new interest. Our four councils include; the Legislative and Economic Development Council, the Ambassador Council, the Diversity Council and the Women’s Business Council. Of course, there are other ways to get involved. We are currently compiling a volunteer list for our Business Walk, which will happen in May. Please contact the chamber for an application on becoming a Chamber Council Member or getting involved in other areas.
