Chamber announces return of Jr. CEO virtual youth education program
Registration is open until Feb. 25 and is capped at 80 participants
– The Atascadero Chamber of Commerce has announced the launch of its third annual Jr. CEO program, a virtual educational initiative aimed at teaching elementary and junior high students essential entrepreneurial skills.
The program consists of five virtual workshops that will cover topics including business fundamentals, cost models, safety and food preparation, marketing, customer service, and money management. Each session will be led by local business leaders and will include an interactive workbook to enhance learning.
“We are thrilled to invest in the leaders of tomorrow by providing them with real-world knowledge from local business experts,” said Josh Cross, president and CEO of the chamber. “The skills they gain through this program will be valuable in both their personal and professional lives.”
Students participating in the program often use the workshops to launch small businesses such as hot chocolate or lemonade stands, as well as other ventures including jewelry, bookmarks, pet food, birdhouses, and beef jerky. The program is designed to provide a foundation in business that families can use to encourage further learning.
“I look forward to seeing how these young entrepreneurs use their creativity and skills to learn new skills,” Cross said.
Tuition for the program is $25 per student. Registration is open until Feb. 25 and is capped at 80 participants. A virtual kickoff and informational meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Feb. 25.
