Central Coast communities honor veterans with local ceremonies
Honor Flight invites Central Coast residents to attend special events
– Honor Flight Central Coast is encouraging residents across San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties to attend Veterans Day ceremonies on Nov. 11, which will honor veterans’ service and sacrifice.
The organization has provided a list of ceremonies being held across the region and invites the public to join in recognizing veterans.
Ceremonies in San Luis Obispo County will take place at:
- Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum in San Luis Obispo, at 801 Grand Ave., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Pismo Pier in Pismo Beach, at 100 Pomeroy Ave., at 11 a.m.
- Faces of Freedom in Atascadero, at 8024 Portola Rd., at 11 a.m.
The Santa Maria Kiwanis will also present “Beyond Glory,” a dramatic presentation written by Stephen Lang that tells the stories of American Medal of Honor recipients. Proceeds from this event will benefit Honor Flight Central Coast California. It will be held on Nov. 9 and Nov. 10 at 127 W. Boone St., Santa Maria. Tickets are available for purchase.
Honor Flight Central Coast also noted that many local restaurants and retailers are offering special deals for veterans and active-duty military personnel, including free meals at Applebee’s and Denny’s and discounts at stores such as Home Depot and Target.
