Cal Poly instructor arrested in child exploitation investigation

– A California Polytechnic State University instructor was arrested Feb. 18 in San Luis Obispo on charges related to contacting a minor for sex, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
Kevin Coulombe, 38, of San Luis Obispo, was arrested after sheriff’s detectives served a search warrant in the city as part of an ongoing investigation into the sexual exploitation of children. Authorities said Coulombe faces multiple charges, including contacting a minor with the intent to have sex and arranging a meeting with a minor for sexual purposes.
Search warrants were served at Coulombe’s residence, his vehicle, and at the university, where he is currently employed as an instructor.
Further investigation revealed Coulombe was previously employed as a teacher at San Luis Obispo High School and Menlo-Atherton High School in Atherton prior to his employment at the university.
