Cal Fire releases causes of recent fires 

–Cal Fire has released the causes of the recent rash of fires in San Luis Obispo County. None of the fires in San Luis Obispo have evidence to support arson as a cause, according to Cal Fire. Some of the recent fires remain under investigation, however preliminary causes are as follows:

Hill Fire– Started June 30, 2017. Burned 1598 acres and destroyed 4 homes. Cause: Vehicle fire spread into the vegetation.

Tower Fire– Started July 7, 2017. Burned 68 acres. Cause: Vehicle fire spread into the vegetation.

Stone Fire – Started July 9, 2017. Burned 340 acres, destroyed one residence, and six outbuildings. Cause: Mechanical equipment clearing brush.

Spring Fire – Started July 11, 2017. Burned 15 acres. A total of five fires reported from Atascadero to San Miguel. Cause: Hot vehicle exhaust particulate from a passing vehicle into the vegetation.
