Beauty and the Beast playing at Movies in the Gardens
–The City of Atascadero’s Recreation Division and Presenting Sponsor Twin Cities Hospital, along with event sponsor Idler’s Home, are presenting the 2017 Movies in the Gardens. The movies will show on Saturdays through Sept. 2. Shows will begin at approximately 8 p.m. All shows are held in the Sunken Gardens Park located at 6500 Palma Avenue in Atascadero and are family friendly. This event is totally free.
For Aug. 26, they will present Disney’s “Beauty & the Beast” (PG), a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic, which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.
The last movie being shown in the park this summer is Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Sept. 2, PG-13). The movies are free for the community and you are encouraged to bring a blanket, low-back chair, and your family to relish the warm summer evenings. Snacks and refreshments will be available every week provided by St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
