Author, journalist to visit Atascadero library to discuss upcoming new book
– SLO County Libraries will host two distinguished authors in January.
Author and journalist Roger Rapoport is set to make two appearances at SLO County Libraries. The first event is scheduled for Jan. 30 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Atascadero Library, followed by a second appearance on Jan. 31 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the SLO Library Community Room.
Rapoport will discuss his upcoming book, “Searching for Patty Hearst,” published by Lexographic Press in January, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Hearst’s kidnapping. The book explores unresolved questions surrounding one of the most renowned American kidnappings of the 20th century.
Internationally bestselling author Jennifer Ackerman will be at the SLO Library Community Room on Jan. 15, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. During the event, she will explore the intelligence of birds and investigate the mysteries of the avian brain as discussed in her book, “The Genius of Birds.” Ackerman, an award-winning writer and scholar with over three decades of experience in science, nature, and health writing, will share insights from her latest book, “What an Owl Knows: The new science of the world’s most enigmatic birds,” which became an instant New York Times bestseller.
While Ackerman is known for her appearances at the Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival, this event is separate from the festival, although it takes place during the same holiday weekend—an added opportunity to hear the author speak.
