Atascadero Unified recognizes staff member for response to email attack
– Atascadero Unified School District recently recognized Technology Coordinator Vincent Regalado for his response to an email attack that sent out 5,400 potentially harmful messages at the start of the school year.
District officials said the Technology Department did not have a director at the time of the attack. Regalado and his team identified the issue within five minutes.
Superintendent Tom Butler said Regalado worked with the California Cyber Security Integration Center, the Homeland Security Division, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, and the Atascadero Police Department to address the problem and find a solution.
Butler recognized Regalado for his efforts and his willingness to ensure the safety of the district.
