Atascadero thanks longtime employees
Staff and firefighters both recognized for superior work
Atascadero City Manager Rachelle Rickard recognized six long-time employees, handing out Employee Service Awards at Tuesday’s city council meeting.
Rickard commended each employee for his or her high standards of service before offering a handshake and a hug to each. City Planner Alfredo Castillo has worked for Atascadero for five years and, among his other qualifications, Rickard said, “This is the man to ask [if you have computer questions.]”
Rickard said Fire Engineer and Paramedic Michael Stornetta, who has worked for the city for 10 years is a “metal fabricator extraordinaire.”
Marianne Clark has been an administrative assistant for the city for 10 years and is the police department’s “go-to person,” Rickard said.
Rachel Hunter is a financial technician who has been with the city for 10 years and who Rachelle sayd is an employee favorite as she does payroll among many other finance-related duties.
Tara Orlick has also been with the city for 10 years, currently with the Public Works Department, though she has worked in a number of offices. “We all keep trying to steal her from each other,” Rickard said laughing.
The award ceremony was wrapped up with recognition of parks and streets maintenance lead Tom Jamasan. Jamasan is widely known across Atascadero and has worked for the city for 30 years. “I have a lot of respect for this man, and what he’s done for the city,” Rickard said. Jamasan has been part of the formation of several city parks, including Paloma.
In addition to employee service awards, Fire Chief Kurt Stone recognized four firefighters who received special certification.
The four firefighters receiving certification included: Capt. Tom Peterson and Capt. Scott Satterthwaite who received fire officer certification; and Capt. Dean Pericic and Engineer Paul Netz who were certified as fire medics. Stone said the individuals reached milestones of training throughout their careers having participated in between 200 and 300 hours of training in addition to their fire and paramedic training.
Each year, the City of Atascadero recognizes employees who have worked five years or more, in five-year increments. Rickard mentioned repeatedly, the city’s dedication to, “legendary customer service.”
