Atascadero summer swim registration opens
–The City of Atascadero is once again offering summer swim lessons at the Atascadero High School pool, June 19th through August 11th (closed July 4th). The high school is located at 1 High School Hill Rd., Atascadero.
New this year is a “Mommy (or Daddy) & Me” swim class, open to children ages six months to three years old, with a caregiver. This class is designed to familiarize young children to the water and prepare them to learn to swim in the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim courses. It is not designed to teach children to become good swimmers or to survive in the water on their own. Swim diapers required for those two years and under.
A free Swim Assessment day will be held on Thursday, June 8th between 4-5:30 p.m. at the High School pool. Assessments will only take 10-15 minutes, but will help determine what swim level children should be enrolled in. Assessments will take place at the Atascadero High School Pool, 1 High School Hill. Pre-registration is not required for the assessment day; but is required for swim lessons and “Rec Swim.”
Swim lessons are taught in 2-week sessions with half-hour classes. Early afternoon and evening times are available, but space is limited. Don’t pay more at other facilities for group lessons! Save money and experience small class sizes with fun and patient lifeguards.
This summer’s “Rec Swim” is open to all ages every weekday, Monday through Friday, from 1:30-4 p.m. The cost is $5 per person each day, but save money by buying a punch pass for 10 visits at $31. Punch passes can be used by everyone in the family and can be purchased at the pool or at the Colony Park Community Center, 5599 Traffic Way in Atascadero, Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. or register online.
