Atascadero Rotary scholarship applications due by Mar. 6
Scholarships available for Atascadero and Morro Bay high school seniors
The application deadline to apply for a 2015 Atascadero Rotary Scholarship is March 6. Scholarships are available for graduating seniors from Atascadero High School and Morro Bay High School who have been accepted to an accredited college or university. Applications are available on the Atascadero High School and Morro Bay High School websites.
Fifteen Scholarships for Atascadero High School seniors have been established by the Rotary Club of Atascadero (RCA). Two of these are valued at $6,000 each: the RCA Renewable and the RCA-Gordon Gearhart Renewable – each $1,500 annually for 4 continuous years.
The Rotary Club of Atascadero has established one scholarship eligible for a current year graduate from the Morro Bay High School. This scholarship was established by Robert and Bertha Shultz in 2014.
Rotary International is a worldwide organization of business and professional men and women united to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. The objects of Rotary are: to encourage and foster high ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his or her occupation as an opportunity to serve.
Application process and qualifications
The application process for consideration of Rotary Scholarships is twofold: the applicant must submit the Local Scholarship application available through the Atascadero and Morro Bay High School counselors’ office, and the applicant must submit a separate letter of application to the Rotary Club of Atascadero. The letter of application shall identify the Rotary Scholarship(s) they are applying for and a brief statement about the applicant’s education and career goals and aspirations. The applicant must be of good character, possess the ability to serve as an ambassador of goodwill within their chosen vocation, have participated in school activities, community activities, and have work experience. The Rotary Scholarship Committee will review all applications and develop a short list of candidates invited for a mandatory oral interview in April. A scholarship recipient shall be accepted to an accredited college or university to receive a scholarship.
