Atascadero paralegal creates county’s first drive-through notary service
–Local paralegal Rebecca Lilley is proving that necessity is the mother of invention with her pop-up, drive-thru notary service during the eye of the COVID-19 storm. Located in a former bank building at 9900 El Camino Real in Atascadero, Lilley is accepting appointments to help people verify and certify documents.
“With the advent of COVID-19, I began receiving frantic phone calls and emails for the need to notarize trust documents, powers of attorney and advanced healthcare directives,” said Lilley. “People want to get their estates in order, or finalize real property transfers as soon as possible.”
Since California still requires live, personal verification by a licensed notary, Lilley explained that the only way to provide her service with the necessary health safety concerns of all parties, was to lease a space with a drive-thru window. She said, “In all my years as a paralegal and notary I never imagined that I would open a “pop-up” notary service, but I needed to find a way to provide this essential service to people in need.”
The lifetime Atascadero resident said appointments can be made by contacting her at (805) 712-7044, or through her website, www.axisparalegal.com. Lilley is the daughter of former Atascadero Mayor and Attorney Robert Lilley.
