Funds raised through annual Festival of Trees event

– The Atascadero Optimist Club donated $1,000 to Teens4Teens at its Feb. 10 meeting at the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce. The funds were raised through the Festival of Trees, the club’s annual fundraiser held Nov. 22 at the Atascadero Lake Pavilion.

Club member Nancy Spitzer presented the check to Teens4Teens co-founder Jeff Long during the monthly meeting.

Jeff and Kathy Long founded Teens4Teens (teens4teenshelp.org), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting teen mental health. The organization focuses on peer encouragement, sharing personal experiences, and providing resources to help teenagers facing emotional challenges understand they are not alone.

The club selected Teens4Teens as a recipient of Festival of Trees proceeds in keeping with its mission of supporting programs that benefit young people and strengthen the community.

“Supporting young people is at the heart of what Optimists do,” Spitzer said. “Teens4Teens provides meaningful support to teenagers and helps them realize that others understand what they are going through.”

The Festival of Trees generates support for youth-focused programs and nonprofit organizations in the North San Luis Obispo County community.
