Atascadero Movies in the Park series kicks off this Saturday
Movies held at Colony Park Softball Field
– The City of Atascadero will present the 2024 Movies in the Park. The event will take place on Saturdays, Aug. 10 and Aug. 24, at Colony Park Softball Field #2. The park is located at 5599 Traffic Way, next to the Colony Park Community Center in Atascadero.
The first movie, “Wonka” (PG), will be shown on Aug. 10. The film tells the story of how the world’s greatest inventor, magician, and chocolate-maker became Willy Wonka. The second movie, “Kung Fu Panda 4” (PG), will be featured on Aug. 24. In this installment, Po, the Dragon Warrior, is called upon by destiny to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace.
Movies will begin approximately 15 minutes after sunset. Before the films, starting at 6 p.m., attendees can enjoy games and activities, including chalk drawing, frisbee tossing, mini-soccer games, sack races, and family wiffle ball games. Those interested in participating in the wiffle ball games should contact the recreation team to secure a spot.
Paradise Shaved Ice will be available at each event, selling concessions. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and low-back chairs. The event is free to the community.
