Atascadero Middle School students visit Cal Poly science lab

During the field trip, students took part in interactive science activities led by Cal Poly students

– Sixth-grade students from Atascadero Middle School recently participated in a hands-on science lab experience at CalPoly State University’s Learn By Doing Lab.

During the field trip, students took part in interactive science activities led by Cal Poly students. They explored polymer creation, examined molecular connectivity, and cut open familiar objects to analyze their composition. Participants also experimented with freezing and shattering a bouncy ball.

In the final portion of the lab, students mixed and colored their own materials, observing how varying mixture ratios produced different material properties.

The field trip provided students with an opportunity to engage in scientific exploration while experiencing the Cal Poly campus.
