Atascadero Library releases July programming
—Many of the listed library programs are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Atascadero Library. We will be closed July 4 in observance of Independence Day.

Summer Reading Program
The Children’s Summer Reading Program started June 1 and runs through July 28. The theme this summer is “Libraries Rock.” Children ages 0-18 can earn prizes for reading. For more information, please call (805) 461-6163.
Preschool Storytimes
Preschool storytimes are scheduled on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. We will share stories and songs.
Toddler Storytime
Join us for a storytime specifically designed for your toddler every Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. We will share stories, rhymes, music and fingerplays.
Jedi Academy
Join us Thursday, July 5 at 1 p.m. to learn how to be a Jedi. Ages 4-12.
Paws to Read to Daisy
Thursday, July 5 and 19 at 3:30 p.m. Practice reading anything to Daisy the dog and she will listen. School age.
Family Movie
Saturday, July 7 at 2 p.m. See library website for details. All ages.
Craft Club
Come make a fun project Wednesday, July 11 at 3:30 p.m. Registration required. Ages 6 to 12.
Roaming Reptiles

Adult Summer Reading Program

Art Display – “It’s All Happening at the Zoo”
The Atascadero Library celebrates summer with an art exhibit entitled “It’s All Happening at the Zoo.” This exhibit features the art of George Asdel, Pat Cairns, Steve Collins, Dennis Curry, Jeri Edwards, Kees Frazier, Diane Harrison, Kay Hurons, Elizabeth Klimnik, Joe Schwartz, Juanita Shaffer, Shelley Snow, Cheryl Strahl, and Sally Tippman. The exhibit closes August 31.
Three-week Swing Dance Lessons
Three Saturdays in July: 7, 14 and 21 at 10:30 a.m. Join Brian Reeves as he teaches the fundamentals of swing dancing. This is a partner dance with a leader-follower relationship. However, no partner is necessary to take the class, and we need more “leaders than followers”. Reservations are requested. Sign-up at slolibrary.org. Book Discussion Groups
The two library book groups are Gems in the Stacks which meets the first Tuesday (July 3) of the month at 11 a.m. and Mixed Minds Book Group which meets the third Thursday (July 19) of the month at 2:30 p.m. Gems in the Stacks will discuss Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance. Mixed Minds Book Group will discuss Nutshell by Ian McEwan.
