Atascadero Library announces October programs
–The Atascadero Library has announced their programming for the month of October. View the list of both children and adult programs below:
Children’s programs
Preschool storytimes
Storytimes are scheduled on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 10:30. They will share stories and songs.
Toddler storytimes
Join the library for a storytime specifically designed for your toddler every Friday morning at 10:30. They will share stories, rhymes, music and finger plays.
Spanish Storytime/Libros y Cantos
Join us for music, stories and friendship with Janet! Vengan a disfrutar cuentos y cantos con Janet! Every child who attends receives a free book in Spanish. Cada niño recibirá un libro gratis para llevar a casa. Ages: 3-6. Tuesday, October 4 at 5:30. martes, 4 de octubre a las 5:30.
Paddock Puppet Players
Join the library as they welcome the Paddock Puppet Players for some animal themed puppet fun. Thursday, Oct. 6 at 10:30. Fun for all ages.
Family movie
Saturday, Oct. 1 at 2. See library website for details.
Craft Club
Come make a fun project! Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 3:30. Ages 6 to 12. Sign up required at the library.
Paws to Read to Reno
Children are invited to read to Reno and practice their reading skills in a safe and comforting environment. Read any story to Reno and he will listen! Thursday, Oct. 6 and 20 at 3:30. For school-aged children.
Pop Out Card Making Class with Beryl
Children are invited to create a flag book or card with Beryl Reichenberg, Children’s Book Author and Illustrator. Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 3:30. Ages 4-12. Sign up required at library.
Lego club
Join the library Saturday, Oct. 15 at 2 for some Lego building fun. Ages 5-12. Sign up required at the library.
Repurposed Art for Teens with Sara
Create art with repurposed materials. Ages 10-17. Sign up required at library.
Pumpkin decorating contest
Bring a decorated pumpkin (no carving or cutting) and display it in the library’s Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Vote on your favorite decorated pumpkin. All ages. Oct. 17-29.
Musician John Beccia
Join the library for some “Not too spooky stories and songs” with musician, John Beccia. Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 3:30. All ages welcome.
Adult Programs
Cuesta Voce ensemble concert
Thursday, Oct. 20, 5:30 p.m. Primarily as a Capella group, Voce, www.singers.com/group/Cuesta-Voce/, is the premier vocal jazz ensemble at Cuesta Community College. Since its inception in 1981, the ensemble has toured extensively through the West Coast and has toured Europe eight times. Voce has received numerous awards including an Outstanding Performance Award from Downbeat Magazine. Local artists on display
Beginning Oct. 1, the art of Cynthia Kevorkian, Marie Ramey, and Jane Russell will be on display at the Atascadero Library. These artists are also featured at the ärt/ Gallery on Traffic Way in Atascadero. The exhibit closes Nov. 30. On Thursday, Oct. 6, the library will hold an art reception and guided tour of the new display. Light refreshments will be served from 5:30-7 p.m., and the public is encouraged to attend.
Book discussion groups
The two library book groups are Gems in the Stacks which meets the 1st Tuesday (October 4) of the month at 11 a.m. and Mixed Minds Book Group which meets the 3rd Thursday (October 20) of the month at 2:30 p.m. Gems in the Stacks will discuss Secret Chord by Geraldine Brooks. Mixed Minds Book Group will discuss Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie. For more information, call the library at (805) 461-6162.
