Atascadero Kiwanis Club’s participates in numerous holiday efforts
Club members build straw bale base of snow slide, collect gifts, volunteer
– The recently concluded Winter Wonderland event by the City of Atascadero included a collaboration with the Atascadero Kiwanis Club. The club worked to create the three snow slides that were the base of the Snow Mountain attraction out of straw bales.
Throughout this holiday season, the Kiwanis Club has actively participated in various community initiatives. For over two decades, the club has organized a successful toy collection and distribution program, this year benefiting nearly 700 children. Parents had the opportunity to collect these toys during a designated Saturday event, overseen by the club’s past president Sage Hider.
The Kiwanis Club also extended its community support at the Walk Around the Atascadero Lake earlier this month. Kiwanians Rikki and Ofelia contributed to the event by serving hot chocolate and cookies to approximately 300 attendees.
Also this season, a dedicated club paint crew collaborated with the Atascadero Police Department to paint a bridge in the city’s downtown. Additionally, club members Lee Villa and Lee, along with Tony’s granddaughter Tyler, participated in ringing the Salvation Army Bell at Food 4 Less market.
In addition to these efforts, the Kiwanis Club hosted a Christmas party and donated several hundred books to the school district. Club members also helped with decorations at an Optimist Club holiday fundraiser.
