Highlights from monthly newsletter
– The Atascadero Kiwanis Club has elected Greg Heath as its new president for the 2024-2025 term, according to the club’s most recent monthly newsletter.
Heath, who grew up in Atascadero and recently returned to the area after 24 years away, said he is proud to call the city home again and is looking forward to serving the community through Kiwanis.
“I knew I had found a group of people I would enjoy working alongside to benefit our community,” Heath said.
In addition to Heath, the new slate of Kiwanis officers includes:
- Steve Wrightson, President-Elect
- Blaine Stauffer, Vice President
- Mark Dariz, Treasurer
- Cyndi Workman, Past President
- Doug Meyer, Administrative Secretary
- Sandy Edmunson, Recording Secretary
The 1st year board members are Neil Amarante, Ben Mendoza, and Chrissy Heath. The 2nd year board members are Jeff Weit, Uschi Fenton, and Rex West.
Workman was also recognized as holding the “most coveted office of all” as the current Kiwanis president.
The newsletter also included details about the club’s scholarship program, which will award 10 $1,500 academic scholarships, seven $1,000 vocational scholarships, and a $2,000 Brian Myracle endowment scholarship. A special “Shining Light” scholarship will also be given in memory of Jimmy Quinonez.
The scholarships will be awarded during special ceremonies on May 22 at Paloma High School and May 23 at Atascadero High School/ACE.
Additionally, the Kiwanis members recently got together for a Bunco fundraising night, which will help offset the increase in yearly dues.
