Junior Chase Viale’s pitching leads Atascadero to victory in first game
– Atascadero High School’s baseball team split a double-header against Mission Prep on Saturday. A double-header is a term used in baseball to describe two games played between the same two teams on the same day at the same venue. The Greyhounds claimed the victory in the first game, 8-2, but fell short in the second game with a score of 11-6. The team’s current season record stands at 11-3.
Junior pitcher, Chase Viale, secured the win in the first game by pitching 4.2 innings and conceding only three hits with no earned runs. Senior player, Jake Hixenbaugh, made a significant contribution to the game, hitting 2-3 with a home run and 2 RBIs, and scoring three runs.
The Greyhounds’ next game will be against Everett Alvarez High School, who currently hold a 5-5 record. They will compete in a tournament beginning on Monday, where they are scheduled to play on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Overall, the Atascadero High School baseball team has been enjoying a successful season.
