Atascadero Elks host second annual Veterans Car Show
Over 50 Classic Cars & Free Breakfast Served For All Veterans
– On Sunday, June 18, 2023, hundreds of North County residents visited the Atascadero Elks Lodge on El Camino Real to attend the Second Annual Elks Veterans’ Car Show which featured over 50 classic cars & trucks.
At the car show, all veterans were served a free breakfast by the lodge. Each classic car owner was given one vote to choose their favorite vehicle in the show. When all the ballots had been tallied, the winning entrants were; 1st Place Jim and Alex Johnson, 1970 Dodge Charger; 2nd Place David Kennedy, 1965 Pontiac GTO; and Third Place Pat, 1956 Chevy Nomad.
Since its inception in 1987, the Atascadero Elks have contributed over $850,000 to various programs including youth activities, local sports, programs for handicapped and needy children, patriotic programs, veterans programs, and many community activities. In addition, the Elks participate in drug awareness programs at local schools and distribute dictionaries to all 3rd graders in the area.
The Atascadero Elks Lodge was established in the City of Atascadero on Sept. 26, 1987. Their mission: To inculcate the principles of charity, justice, brotherly love, and fidelity; to recognize a belief in God; to promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of its members; to quicken the spirit of American patriotism; to cultivate good fellowship; to perpetuate itself as a fraternal organization, and to provide for its government.
