Atascadero Community Band raises $1,155 for high school boosters
Band to perform holiday sing-along on Dec. 8
– The Atascadero Community Band drew a large crowd to its Halloween-themed “Concert of Monstrous Proportions” at the Atascadero Bible Church on Oct. 27. The event was filled with lively performances, including a spirited “Jurassic Park” that featured a T-Rex seen dancing through the aisles, adding a touch of mystery to the concert.
The program included popular tracks such as “The Time Warp,” “Frankenstein,” and larger-than-life pieces like “Phantom of the Opera” and “Jekyll and Hyde.” The audience showed their enthusiasm, rising to their feet for a standing ovation after the performance of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.”
Nick Waldron, conductor and faculty member at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, led the band through its hauntingly fun repertoire, skillfully guiding the musicians to create a memorable experience for the audience.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Atascadero High School Band Boosters, a nonprofit organization supporting the instrumental music programs at Atascadero High School. The band presented a $1,155 grant to the boosters, funded by the generous donations of concertgoers.
The Atascadero Community Band will hold its final indoor concert of the year on Dec. 8 at 2:30 p.m. at the Pavilion on the Lake in Atascadero. The performance will feature a holiday sing-along and festive music. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the season and enjoy refreshments.
