Atascadero City Council to consider giving itself a raise 

Salaries for the Atascadero City Council, mayor, city clerk and city treasurer will be considered for increases at the upcoming Aug. 11 City Council Meeting. They council members will also consider health, welfare and retirement benefits for themselves.

The city council had directed staff to return to this meeting with two options for them to consider:

Option A:

1. City Council: Increase monthly salary from $300 to $600
2. Mayor: Increase monthly salary from $300 to $750
3. City Clerk: Increase monthly salary from $200 to $400
4. City Treasurer: Increase monthly salary from $200 to $400

Option B:

1. City Council: No increase in monthly salary
2. Mayor: Increase monthly salary from $300 to $500
3. City Clerk: Increase monthly salary from $200 to $300
4. City Treasurer: Increase monthly salary from $200 to $300

The City Council plans to include with either of these options increasing of elected officials’ health benefits to include dental and vision care for spouses and dependents and the city will pay for that coverage.
