Atascadero Chamber luncheon to focus on new sick leave law

Featuring special guest speaker attorney Susan Waag

Beginning July 1, 2015, a new law will go into effect requiring all employers to provide their California employees with at least three days (24 hours) of paid sick leave per year.

The upcoming Atascadero Chamber of Commerce luncheon will take place on Friday, April 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and will focus on this timely topic, which will affect employers and employees.

The special guest speaker will be attorney Susan S. Waag, who specializes in employment law and human resources. Susan will explain the details of the law and how it will impact the work force. Specific points that will be covered include: accrual requirements, rate of pay, purposes of sick leave, employers who already have paid time off polices, notice and posting requirements and record-keeping requirements.

This special luncheon is hosted by the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce Women-In-Business committee. The event will take place at the Pavillion on the Lake, 9315 Pismo Ave., in Atascadero. For Atascadero Chamber members the cost is $20, and for Non-Members it’s $25. Space is limited.
